Cognitive Dissonance Gets Me Every Time

Dear Mr. Halperin,

Your recent post on the Obama campaign confused me. Suppose your first example might work, but the second one seems entirely consistent with the message he’s trying to convey. Not exactly cognitive dissonance, more along the lines of eloquent framing. I have no doubt there’s a bevy of examples of the Obama campaign’s inconsistency on matters of rhetoric, but maybe choose one that fits into the context of your larger point. Then again, I just thought I saw Harry Knowles so, you know, letting this one slip into the archives of ill advised rejoinders might be a judicious move on your part.

Sincerely,
Griffin and Hoxie
