The Forgotten Little Mayfield Myers

Published December 17th, 2006

Little Mayfield Myers trips over a wandering ego in the woods and skins his knee. He runs home to Mommy. Crying. Sobbing. He wants a hug. Mommy wails and tells Father. Father bellows and tells The Mayor. The Mayor blusters and calls a town meeting. Fingers pointing. Accusations fly. Arguments about restitution. Create a law. Create a law. Pass it quick. Everyone doesn’t agree. Everyone must abide. The Mayor grins. He’s established bold credentials. Mommy’s happy. Her son stopped crying. Father’s proud. He took action. The town is bewildered. People trip. Jim Don Mather is confused. Little Mayfield Myers bruised his ego. Why does he owe the Family? Little Mayfield Myers fades. He still wants a hug.
